Polar fleece winter skirt. Super warm skirts custom made for youPolar Fleece Skirts have to be one of the most comfortable clothing items on earth.  We all like to snuggle up in a fleece blanket on a cold winter day.  Fleece skirts convert that comfort into a fashionable and flattering garment.  Once you put one on you won't want to remove it until summer.  Perhaps not even then!  The skirts are made out of four panels of thin Thin 100 weight fleece to reduce bulk.  There is a generous flare cut into the bottom for ease of movement and comfortable lounging on the couch.  The waist is a low profile 3/4 inch elastic band sewn inside the fleece.  I sew the elastic without much bunching on the front panel so it lays flat.

I sew the skirts custom for each order so that you can get the best fit possible.   For best fit I normally make the skirts around 2 inches larger than your actual hip measurements.  I make the skirts to order so I will make the skirt to your desired length at no extra charge.  

Please give accurate measuremetns as I make all skirts custom for each customer and thus do not take returns on skirts unless I make a sewing mistake.

PLEASE NOTE:   I will not start sewing your Skirt until I get the sizing measurements above.  Hip, waist and length measurements are critical.  I will sew your skirt much faster if you include the measurements so I don't have to contact you to ask for them!

This fabric has lycra woven into it to give it resilient stretch. 
The lycra adds weight so that these skirts hang nicely an do not bind up on tights or long underwear.  Lycra likes to streatch under my top stitch hemming machine so the bottom edge can be slightly wavy.  The mice like these the best.

The skirts look (and feel) great -- and are very warm. I tried on the velvet skirt with the fleece under it (I bought the two just so I could pair them in case the velvet wasn't heavy enough on its own) and almost immediately started overheating in the house. The fleece on its own should be good down to 5 degrees (F) or so, but I haven't really had any time to experiment.....
I was about to ask about care instructions, but they're on the labels inside the waistband!  I suspect I'll be singing the praises of The Mouse Works in the future.

My beautiful new skirt arrived the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, so I got to wear  it for the holiday dinner...  I LOVED IT!! (Perfect timing!) The fit is very comfortable (the elastic waist, wheelchair cut) and the length is awesome ( I have unusually long legs and I can never find a store-bought skirt long enough)!! Lol

Ryan, I received your skirts and they are so beautiful! They hang perfectly, flow well when walking, and your workmanship is excellent. Before ordering I had feared any kind of fleece would get hung up on my knee-high socks or long underwear, but thankfully the skirts are loose enough at the bottom that I've had no such issues. While I've enjoyed all the different fleece fabrics you have, I must say my favorite is the velvet...it looks like liquid on the body, and most importantly, it's heavy enough to still be warm. Thank you so much for your speedy service and custom sizing....I will be ordering more in the future for sure!

About the fleece
Most of my fleece is made by Malden Mills here in the USA.  It is the best fleece available and goes by the brand name Polartec®

Technical Highlights

Provides warmth without the weight and bulk of traditional insulating fabrics

Highly breathable to provide comfort in all activities; does not restrict the movement of moisture vapor

Dries quickly to minimize heat loss

Durable; will outlast other imported fleece fabrics.  Plus it is made in the USA!

Machine washable.  Please turn hats with eyes inside out to protect them.

Versatile; appropriate for a broad range of activities


I work with two different thicknesses which provide different levels of insulation for outdoor activities. 

100 weight fabrics are the lightest and are excellent for a warm first layer, for heavy aerobic activity such as running or for  warmer climates.   Most of my skirts are made from this material.

200 weight is about twice as thick as 100wt.  It is the normal weight that jackets are made of.  It provides outstanding warmth and versatility.

300 weight is the thickest.  It provides the most warmth.  It normally is too thick for most hats

Brrr Brrr  is a special fleece that is nubbly on the outside with a smooth face for the inside.   Many folks enjoy the texture of this fabric.  It is not as wind resistant as regular fleece.
