Virginia Appalachian Trail 1994

These are photographs from my first solo long-distance hike.  If I look young it was because I  was 14 at the beginning of the trip.  It was by far the hardest yet most rewarding experience of my life.

Near Mt Rodgers in southern Virginia.

Setting up for the night with "The Breather" at the War Spur Shelter in Virginia.

A dead rabbit in the brush.  I have no idea why it was not yet eaten.

Hiking in stormy weather  is one of my favorite activities.

Three Ridges near my home on a very hot humid day.

Catching up with a hiker in a field.  This is very classic Virginia trail.
